Worried About the Stealth of Your Computer?

I don’t let it keep me up at night, but I sometimes do wonder about the boogedy man invading my computer. The silent black ops of the government learning more about the sheep behind my monitor, now that statement is just paranoia. But if you do worry about such things you should try the Shields Up website at http://www.grc.com/default.htm. The service is free and is extremely knowledgeable, especially for a non-geek like myself.
The website basically scans your ports and tries to connect to the NetBIOS of your computer. It also checks all your ports to see if they reply to pings sent by other computers. If you have windows messenger, they also have a messenger spam test.
If you have a problem with the reading or questions they have an extensive Frequently Asked Questions page and a forum. So if your readings do not come out stealthy you can usually get answers on how to take off that “hey look at me” sign and put on some camouflage.
Try it out and hopefully it will set your mind at ease.
