Want to waste some time download Windows Defender

by me

I downloaded Windows Defender, Microsofts’ anti-spyware agent, about two days ago. I noticed that windows Internet Explorer 7 wasn’t functioning at all, all I could get was Google, I thought that my Internet was shut off or that I had some virus, like Microsoft support says at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894269. So I checked my computer at boot with my anti-virus program and it didn’t detect anything. So the next logical step, in my mind, was to run scandisk at boot and it didn’t find any problems either. So after getting frustrated I removed my partition and re-installed Windows XP.

Computer was running fine after re-installing  Windows. Going through all the fun stuff of downloading and re-installing all the applications that I had before this nuisance. Re-applying the settings to outlook-express. A good hour of wasted time. So, like the non-geek that I am, I decided to install windows defender again. I installed it again because I didn’t think the good people at Microsoft would make a product that was inferior enough to cause such a problem. After installing like the instructions said, Boom, both my browsers , Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox, were only letting me view Google. If I clicked on a URL in Google search my connection would time out and it would not display the page.

I should have known better. What should you expect from a company who releases commercial beta version of software and then asks you to use a free trial subscription to Windows Live Care. Long story short, I personally think Windows Defender is like giving a good book to a blind person.
