The Side Tracker - Ubuntu

I recently downloaded Ubuntu. Ubuntu is a Linux OS ( Operating System ), free to anyone with the knowledge to dabble in OSOS ( Open Source Operating System ). I like the idea of OSOS, but if you are really used to Windows than I would dual-boot it ( like I did). OSOS’s are gaining popularity because of their configurability , if that is a word, their support networks, and basically anything to get away from the “buy an OS, install, and wait or even pay for support”.
I think it is very cool that you can download an OS for free, and if you have any problems you can always post in a forum. I installed Ubuntu and, of course being new to Linux, ran into problems. So i just went to their forums and posted a question. Within minutes, yes I said minutes, I had a solution from one of their helpful members. Try and get that with Microsoft, without paying.
It is a different environment though, but something I think anyone is willing to get used to if they want to get away from the clutches of Microsoft.
Like I said earlier I had to dual-boot it, that means when I turn on my computer I get a choice of using windows or Ubuntu. I am so used to windows that it will take some time to get used to Ubuntu.
Another feature I like is the repository of free programs that rival or even surpass the programs bundled with Windows. I’m using Gutsy Gibbon ( Ubuntu’s newest version ) and It has an automatic update just like Microsoft.
If it’s for free it’s for me.
