Can I put a question here? and please don’t flame me..
Vista speech recognition works for me EXCEPT if I repeat a word or short phrase it jumps back to the first time I used it; often it jumps to bringing up a set of numbered choices; basically, I NEVER issue commands (other than “open parentheses” etc) yet it keeps interpreting what I say as a command.

    Any suggestions?

I know exactly what he feels like, the voice recognition is pretty crappy at first because it hasn’t been trained, and sometimes other noise confuses it. And it’s not really designed for doing programming! Though once it’s trained it’s pretty cool and somewhat practical.

    Windows is SNAFU as always

  13. fruitl00p08 Says:

Yeh. I don’t care what these guys say lol
This is exactly what it’s like! It’s sooo annoying! /hilarious

  14. crazylax42 Says:

gotta be staged. no way anyone is that slow of a learner. Not appropriate for this application, anyway.

  15. JJ7843523 Says:

voice input - what a waste of time. Could have typed what you wanted in a minute. It would be really aggravating to work somewhere where someone was yelling random words into a computer all day.

  16. josh885 Says:

Because if he had trained it would have worked. Maybe you had a shitty mic or a too much back ground noise. I had it working just fine. I don’t use it any more because I feel kind of stupid talking to the computer like that though.

  17. i80and Says:

OK, first of all, how do you know he didn’t train it? As someone who tried to get Windows Vista’s idiotic speech recognition system to work, training only makes it worse. For me anyhow. Secondly, only several of his problems were due to ignorance. Thirdly, it was humorous because it was hilariously bad at figuring out what he was saying; not because it was quoting him verbatim.

  18. Navitz Says:

ehehehehehehee yeh i have the same problem.. im still training my voice recognition… sometimes it comes up with funny stuff. mine still have troubles with distinguishing the difference between The and V.

  19. depressionrulezme Says:

so does your sister dudE!! voice recognition is for the lazy,

  20. yNeville Says:

certainly works better then most Vista features.

  21. tayyabqwerty Says:

    your mom does

  22. josh885 Says:

Ok first of all you have to train it to recognize your voice. You cant just plug in a mic and expect it to work. It says so right in the set up. Second he obviously doesn’t know what the commands are for half the shit he wants to make it do. Third why is it funny or surprising when the computer types what he says into the mic? Here’s a news flash. The computer can’t tell you weren’t talking to it. Most of his trouble was caused by realizing this simple and basic fact.

  23. LordHardkore Says:

Lol you sound like a real ‘tard.

  24. brendennium Says:

    whats a shit prog lol

  25. zachsterdisaster Says:
