How to get rid of the Golden Casino Mail notifier

In this post I will tell you how to uninstall the Golden Casino Mail Notifier. It’s one of the stupidest things golden casino has come up with and you have to follow these simple steps to remove it permanently.
- Go to your start menu and click “run”.
- enter “regedit” in the open box and click OK.
- click edit and select find from the drop-down menu, a panel should open up enter in the text field “gcnotifier” and press find next.
- You will see on your right the location address to “gcnotifier.exe”. You can either write this down or open up your hard drive from the start menu and follow the path that is in your regedit screen as stated below. Note: ” you must have ‘hidden folders shown’ in your folder options and be the administative user for Windows XP.”
- Go to your start menu and click “My Computer”.
- Now follow the path to “gcnotifier.exe”.
- Right click on “gcnotifier” icon and click delete.
- Now go back to regedit and right click on “gcnotifier.exe” and click delete.
- You have now successfully uninstalled this stupid application.
After searching high and low for something like this and seeing all the answers that did not work I decided to write my own. I hope this helps someone. Golden Casino might be cool to some people, but when they make an application that doesn’t easily uninstall itself. That is not cool.
Editors note 12/19/2007: This only gets rid of Golden Casino Mail after you uninstall Golden Casino. I have called Golden Casinos’ (800) number and asked them how to remove Golden Casino Mail and still use Golden Casino and was told ” Golden Casino Mail is part of the application and cannot be removed “.

ok, I Guess I am somewhat computer dumb, but I cant understand how to delete this friggin notifier, please help me
December 28th, 2007 at 11:06 am
omgnoway,
you cannot uninstall the notifier if you still have golden casino installed on your computer. You see the “good makers” ‘cough’ of golden casino found it so important that you have golden casino mail notifier on your computer everytime you start golden casino it will automatically install the mail notifier even if you have removed it from your registry. If you could be more specific to you probelm I’m sure I can help.

Your Welcome. I am just wondering why Golden Casino would put such a crappy application in their program?
January 6th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
i cant count the number of times i have gone through your steps, and it still there.i get as far as the start,my computer and open c drive.there are no hidden folders and i am the administrator. anything else?
January 7th, 2008 at 2:49 am
hi Thomas2,
If there is not a path click find next in your regedit until you see Something like this “C:\Documents and Settings\yourcomputername\Local Settings\Application Data\VTShared\GCNotifier.exe” in your regedit screen. It won’t actually say “yourcomputername” just whatever your username is. I hope this makes it easier for you

hi deland ,
got to start goto search in the search window click all files and folders goto more advanced options and make sure search system folders, search hidden files and folders, and search subfolders is checked. now type in gcnotifier.exe or just gcnotifier and click search now wait for the search results now click the top and hold down ctrl button and click the bottom and then right click and delete. I hope this helps out.

I cant delete the gcnotifier icon, error window says: access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use. Any idea how to get around this? Cheers.
January 8th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
I followed your steps and found where the file lives - but it won’t let me delete it - says access is denied - make sure disk isn’t full or delete protected. Any suggestions???

hi Darren Savage and MR. Annoyedwiththis ( is that a polish name? I’m 50% polish and the rest filler),
Is the golden mail icon in your taskbar on the bottom? if so right click it and click exit. And then try to delete the file. You have to be the administrator of your computer to do this. Or you can restart your computer in safe mode and delete the files.

YIPPEE!!!! It worked, it worked!!!!! You are my hero.

OMG–ty, ty, ty…
I hate these guys now. What a pain in the arse it was! It’s like spyware or something.
January 22nd, 2008 at 6:58 am
I followed your directions to the letter and I am still having problems with it, I uninstalled this app, then found “gcnotifier.exe” in the registry, but first I went and deleted the icon (which was not there) I figure it was uninstalled, anyway then went to registry, find next and it finds the string gcnotifier.exe……..deleted. Rebooted and it comes right back. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I am going to try and install/uninstall it again and try your procedure again. If there is anything you can think of let me know, you don’t have to explain anything i’m pretty good at the computer. Thanks, Mr. Toad
January 23rd, 2008 at 11:45 am
Keep on doing the find next in the registry. You will probably find many instances of gcnotifier. You could always do a search in your computer that shows hidden files and type in gcnotifier. and delete what comes up.

Thanks dude. Golden ‘Plated’ Casino SUX!
January 29th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
I thought the Golden Casino Mail Notifier was gone, but it’s not. When I try to delete the gcnotifier the computer tells me that it’s a file that cannot be deleted. HELP. Now the program keeps running
January 30th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Barbara are you logged in as administrator of your computer? What I mean is are you the only account on your computer? I’ve riddled these comments with alternative ways. If these don’t work. try starting your computer in safe mode (F8 key) before windows starts. Choose safe mode and log in as administrator. Try this and if this doesn’t work let me know.

Thank you so much - I have spent so many hours trying to get rid of that thing - I played the stupid casino for fun - one time and had that notifier come up for six months. thanks a million
February 4th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
SUCCESS!! thank you for the continued support & suggestions. By doing the search (advanced) repeatedly the deep trouble maker was finally unearthed and DELETED (along with several others). It’s a long, slow process and takes perseverance. Your help and suggestions lead the way. (guess I’ll stick with the casinos that let me actually walk in the door and then out!)

Barbara and lLinaindli,
I am glad I could help
March 6th, 2008 at 9:47 am

Me:
Thank you. It’s amazing how the time you spent to write the correction will pay back for many months, from many people, that you have helped and will help, with good feelings and gentle praise.
A lesson we need to put into all aspects of our lives.
Thank you again,
Peter

Peter and Adriana,
You’re welcome. I feel bad for the people who are led to believe it is spyware, by people who prey on desperation and sell spyware programs.
March 16th, 2008 at 10:18 am

Thanks Bro. This damn thing started and runs up every time i turn on my laptop. Your instructions worked like a charm. You taught me a new trick hence the regedit…. Because of this damn GC notifier I will never use golden casino again. I feel invaded and disrespected by them because of this. They have the resources (money) to have an A+ piece of software yet this is quite common from what I’ve read online. Their Roulette game looks crappy and dated too. So in the future i will gamble with a company that will allow me to remove their app completely. As my way of protest I urge everyone that’s dealt with this issue to do the same. I intend to post a screen shot video on Utube showing your instructions in detail to help others ; And in my video I will urge people to boycott GC and gamble with CLUB USA. I am pissed. And I will cost them at least a few grand in business for this aggravation. I will promote Club Usa’s $750 Bonus at the end of the video too….
April 25th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
One more thing people. I’m reading a few of you cant delete it…. If your computer wont let you delete it , that’s because it (gc notifier) is running and you have to turn it off first . try right clicking on the icon in your system tray , then choose “exit”. OR press control, alt, and delete .Open your task manager. Next choose the application tab and see if it’s running in the window (box). if it’s running then highlight the gc notifier in the task manager and then click “end task”……. OK, IF IT STILL WILL NOT LET YOU DELETE IT THEN DOWNLOAD A FREE SOFTWARE APP (GOOGLE IT) NAMED “UNLOCKER”. install unlocker and right click on the gc notifier.exe and choose “unlocker” and it will send it straight to recycle bin HELL !!!!! I hope this helps …. JJ in T.N.

I don’t even use windows as an os anymore. I use ubuntu linux. Now I control My computer. the reason they can’t delete it is they are probably not logged in as the administrator or they their hidden folders are not viewable. Never gamble at work.

please help, I;ve been trying and trying to uninstall goldencasino mail notifier .I’ve tried following your steeps to no avail.I totally lost after text field gcnotifier and press next.Whe i go to my computer i don’t understand what path, and so on .Please hlp.
June 29th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Omg! I didn’t double check my spelling, forgive me. Hope you understand what it is i’m trying to explain.
June 30th, 2008 at 10:56 am
Don’t worry about the spelling. Think of your computer as an electronic filing cabinet with folders within folders and files in those folders. path being c:\whatever shows up when you search in regedit. If you can explain in more detail, I would be glad to help.
