I just tried to view a Google group today and I couldn’t because I didn’t want to sign in. This has got to be the stupidest gimmick to waste more drive space on Googles part. What do they need that information for? Not alone to waste more of the user’s time, I guess the user’s time is free. I personally think it is one of the stupidest moves on google’s part. I am not going to get into the big brother conspiracy scenario, but information is power.
What’s a matter Google? Not enough android phones going out the door? Why don’t you focus more on being a better search engine, instead of trying to corner every marketable whim. That is, in my opinion, the problem with every internet based business. They usually start out small providing a service and then when the service is appreciated by the public and money starts rolling in. Then come the CEO’s and the money managers and then the service that made the company what it is, gets put on the side with foolish adventures in wasting money that could be put to more better uses.

Who is really going to use a Linux Google based operating system?
I’ll use a Linux based operating system, but a Google based operating system I think not. Not because I don’t think it will be good, just because I think Google should just make one thing awesome first, instead of 100 mediocre products.
I do use Google’s search engine, but it doesn’t know a adjective or adverb from a noun. They would probably have to make linguistic recognition software, but why do that when they have 100 other projects to work on.
The point I am trying to make is that google is more of a hype company than a producing company. I do use google ads and someday I might break the 100 dollar threshold ( after about two years, I won’t hold my breath and do hope that by writing this it doesn’t break one of the million terms in the contract ).
Bottom line make the search engine better! Don’t listen to me though because I never got a bachelors degree in making things more complicated than they really need to be.
